What does the qualification cover?

This qualification provides learners with the first aid skills they require to enter into the children’s workforce. The aim of the qualification is to guide and assess the development of knowledge and skills relating to paediatric first aid.

Who is it suitable for?
Anyone who has to deliver first aid as part of their role in either childcare settings or in domestic environments for example:

- Nannies
- Nursery Assistants
- Teachers

​The qualification is designed for learners who have responsibility for children, whether at work in their setting or within a domestic environment.

What are the entry requirements?
You should be at least 16 years old. We do not set any other entry requirements but colleges or training providers may have their own guidelines.

How many credits are required to complete it?
The Award requires 3 credits.

​How is it assessed?
It will be assessed by your tutor or assessor using a range of methods. These may include practical demonstrations and task-based assessments.

Do you need to be working to take the qualification?
Learners do not need to be working or undertaking practical placements to take this qualification.

Mandatory Training is deemed to be essential for safe and efficient functioning of health care organisations, patient safety and for the safety of each member of staff. The requirement for annual Mandatory Training become increasingly demand for Nurses and other Healthcare Professionals to ensure that Healthcare Professionals have their knowledge up to date and skills required to deliver evidence based care for the patient’s and quality of care.
